Library Schedule

Our library schedule is a fixed schedule.  Students in all grades come to the Media Center every 4 school days for a 40 minute class period. Excel students come for 30 minutes.

Circulation

Kindergarten and Grade 1:

Students may select one book each visit. They may renew the book as many times as needed. If it is an especially popular title, the book may not be renewed so that others may have a chance to check out the book. Students may check out additional materials for reports or projects. Beginning in January, first grade students may choose 2 books each week.

Grade 2:

Students may select two books each visit. They may also renew these books if they wish to keep them longer. Students may check out additional materials for reports or projects.

In addition, all students are welcome to come to the Media Center to exchange their library books for new ones during our morning check-out times.

Parents

Parents are also welcome to become patrons of our school library, and to check out materials for their families.

Overdue Books:

Students with overdue books will not be allowed to select new books until all the overdue books are returned.

Damaged or Lost Books:

If library books are damaged and need to be removed from the collection, we will request the replacement cost of the book or books. If books are lost, we will also expect the replacement cost of these materials. No library books may be borrowed until payment has been received.

Although STEM and SEL (Social Emotional Learning aka: GUIDANCE) are not considered Unified Arts that students have every week, they do meet with these teachers 2x a month. This program is in it’s fourth year in New Milford. The STEM program allows enrichment for all K-5 students using a push-in model from the K-5 STEM teacher and supports the needs of our students as 21st-century learners.
