Schaghticoke Middle School

A place where all members of the community are valued, safe, and supported.

Principal’s Message

Student, Families, & Staff,

I am both excited and honored to serve as the Principal of Schaghticoke Middle School!

The middle school years represent a pivotal time during a child’s growth and development academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. These early adolescent years are when students begin to gain a better sense of who they are and what they value, their strengths and interests, and their areas for growth. Additionally, it is during these years that relationships with peers become more important, and many students experience changes in friend groups. Finally, it is during these early adolescent years that children begin to be more observant of the world around them, to engage with school, local, and global communities in different ways, and to figure out how they as an individual fit into these groups.

To be successful in middle school and beyond, students need to feel connected to their schools and the community they live in. At SMS we are committed to fostering a school environment that provides optimal conditions for academic, social, emotional, and physical growth and development. We are also committed to meeting each individual child where they are, and providing the tools, resources, and support needed to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in high school and beyond.

During my time serving the New Milford community I have learned that the town truly is a special place, and that this is due to the wonderful people that live and work in the community. I look forward to continuing to serve the community as we work collaboratively to prepare future generations to ensure that New Milford continues to excel and prosper.

Sincerely,

Linda Scoralick
Principal
