Welcome to New Milford Schools!
As your Assistant Superintendent, I’m excited to welcome you to our New Milford Public Schools website. I want to share how truly dedicated we are to providing every student in our district with the best education possible.
Here in New Milford, everything we do comes from our core beliefs: Heart, Focus, Creativity, and Collaboration. These words are our guiding ideas that shape our decisions every day. We use them to create a lively and helpful learning place for all.
We truly believe in creating a space where every child can shine – not just in their academic work, but also in how they interact with others and how they feel about themselves. Our amazing teachers and staff are passionate about helping children become great thinkers, problem solvers, and caring individuals. We want to ensure they’re prepared for everything the future holds.
This year, we are focusing particularly on ensuring that students complete work that helps them learn in the most effective ways possible. We’re always keeping up with the latest research on how children (and adults!) learn, so we can continually improve our teaching. We’re committed to using innovative and effective methods to deliver the highest quality teaching and support.
We know that when families and schools work together, students do their best. Thank you for trusting us and working with us. Together, we can help all our students reach their full potential. I’m really looking forward to a great year ahead!
Sincerely,
Holly Hollander
Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Title IX is a federal civil rights law in the United States of America that was passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives funding from the federal government. This is Public Law No. 92‑318, 86 Stat.
The District does not discriminate based on sex in the education programs and activities that it operates. This requirement not to discriminate in the District’s education programs and activities extends to admission (as applicable) and employment. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination and will not be tolerated among New Milford Public Schools’ students. It is the policy of the Board of Education that any form of sexual harassment is forbidden, whether by students, supervisory or non-supervisory personnel, individuals under contract, or volunteers subject to the control of the Board. Employees are expected to adhere to a standard of conduct that is respectful and courteous to employees, students, and the public. An employee found to be a responsible party for sexual harassment violating Title IX may be subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment. A finding that an employee is not a responsible party for conduct that violates Title IX does not prevent discipline of the employee if the conduct violates another Board policy, personnel rule, or code of conduct. Employee conduct not sexual harassment as defined under the Title IX regulations may still be considered sexual harassment under Connecticut state law and/or Title VII of the Civil Rights Act as outlined in Policy 4118.112/4218.112.
The Title IX Coordinator manages the District’s compliance with Title IX, Title VII, and Connecticut law concerning sexual harassment and/or sex discrimination and is an available resource to anyone seeking information or wishing to file a formal complaint. When a student, District employee, or other participant in the District’s programs and activities feels that such person has been subjected to discrimination based on sex in any District program or activity, including, without limitation, being subjected to sexual harassment, such person may contact the Title IX Coordinator or utilize the Title IX, Title VII and Connecticut law grievance systems set forth herein to bring concerns forward for the purpose of obtaining a prompt and equitable resolution.
